Happy birthday my sweet first born son! I can't believe this day is here. You're 16! It's just one day later than yesterday but I know in my heart it's the beginning of a different chapter in both our lives. You're becoming more independent, which is exactly what you're supposed to do. It's a good thing. How can such a good thing make my throat feel like something's squeezing it so tight that I might lose my breath? You had no idea that I was holding back tears today as I spent the morning with you as you nervously waited to take your driving test. The smile on my face and cheery attitude wasn't difficult to maintain. I truly was so excited for you today. So happy for you. So happy for the freedom and independence you would feel when you drove off that first time without me. But my tears wanted out! And what a relief I feel now as I write this. For the first time today I'm finally able to let those tears flow! Good tears! I LOVE YOU! Lord please guide the sweet gift you have given to me on this earth. Keep him close and use him for your works.
First pic of the morning....waiting for that dreaded moment when they called your name. You were nervous but I tried to help you stay positive. We prayed. A couple of times! Lol
Success! You did it Cam! I knew you could! You're a great driver--most of the time!
We had a delicious lunch at IHOP. Your pick! And then I watched you drive away from DPE in my car as you headed to south campus alone. It was less than a mile from my school with no turns but it felt like it was on the other side of the world from my perspective. Freedom baby! I was so happy for you.
We met up with our family for a birthday dinner at Jimmy Changas at 5:00. We had to hurry because all you could think about was picking up your buddy Kyle for church BY YOURSELF!
Mumaw, Paul, Ganmama, Sarah, Aunt Michelle, Landon, Caden, me, and Dad
I wish I could insert the video of you dancing while the waiters sang to you. Good stuff!
So off you went with Caden and Landon to pick up Kyle and drive to church. Oh, and to get Sonic drinks!
You are such an awesome kid Cam. Happy 16th birthday son.
